did I mention I like lists?

1. My 2D Design class is very interesting (and kinda hard). We're learning color theory now...and there's a lot. Color bias (interesting), mixing warm colors and cool colors, which colors produce different effects...the list goes on.

2. My project for that class is to paint a shoe in analogous colors and then the same shoe in complementary colors. For some reason I'm having a hard time...they just don't look right. =[

3. I accidentally bit my fingernails this week!!! I'm so sad...now I have to start all over. =[

4. I got an A on my last art project which is exciting. =]

(this isn't a very good picture of it...but we had to do a self-portrait using B/W text.

5. I just finished writing a paper for my world religion class about my experience visiting a Catholic church. (My experience was interesting...I'm sure everyone around me knew I wasn't Catholic...I was so confused and had a hard time finding the right pages for everything.)

6. I still have a cold...and now Anna Rose has it too. =[

7. I really like Made By Hank...especially since one of her favorite books is Bread and Jam for Frances. =]

8. For some reason we now have a clock in my house that has bird calls every hour. It's a little bit annoying...and one just called (lol) and sounded like a dying animal.

9. oh oh... (I saved the best for last:) I'm currently working on a "random art of kindness" etsy shop! I'm so excited. =] I'll keep you updated.

don't ask me about blueberries.

People are always asking me about blueberries and the farm. Here's what I know:

1. Blueberries are delicious.
2. We harvest in May.
3. First we send them to the market then we have U-Pick.
4. The market send them all over the world (I know they have sold in Japan).
5. They are not easy to grow.
6. We have...(varieties) Windsor(?), Jewel, Princess(but it's been renamed I think), Emerald...I can't remember the other varieties...plus we have them color-coded... who needs names.

yep, that's the extent of my knowledge. So when I get asked about other things...I make stuff up. For example...today some (very friendly) man came to our door and asked me all about the blueberries. I said something about May and the market and then he said something about Windsor and I said we had them and then he asked which were my favorite..."uhhh, Jewel?" (I have no idea). He asked about some other stuff and I came up with some answers that sounded good...but probably weren't too accurate. I ended with mentioning that this was my dad's farm (so he'd get the hint and stop asking me questions).

So hopefully, Tyler, the Direct Sales Representative for Bright House (he gave me his card) won't remember everything I told him or by May when he comes for U-Pick he will have forgotten most of it and then get the correct information from someone who knows what they are talking about.

The moral of this story...
don't believe my answers (and eat more blueberries).

interview with elizabeth.

Q&A swap with elizabeth! =]

1. What would you like to be known for?
Loving Jesus and loving people without condition…

2. If you were to inherit a building, what would you do with it/use it for?
Hmmm… A building of apartments for a program to help aged out foster children learn to be responsibly independent, or an art school for underprivileged students… there are lots more things I could do, but those are two of them.

3. What are you passionate about? What makes you angry?
I’m passionate about people, seeing compassion overtake poverty, bringing God’s kingdom to earth, being peacemakers, hope, healing, and learning about community and the early church. I am angry when I see injustice, greed, slave labor, sex trade, people dying from diseases which can be easily cured or prevented with sufficient funds, corporations without a conscious, waste when children are starving, war, stigma which puts hurting people in boxes, racism, and people who throw around Jesus’ name but know nothing about his heart.

4. What are three things you want to do before you die?
-Adopt a child
-Live in Africa
-Write a book

5. What is one of your happiest moments?
I can’t pin one down, but I love having a little one curl up in my lap at work, on mission trips, or while babysitting. Those are my everyday happy moments ☺ I love serving food and talking to people at outreaches in the park or having an amazing worship time with God. Also, I love being with my crazy, wonderful family.

6. Ten years from now, what do you hope to be doing and/or what do you want to be like?
I want to be working in the U.S. or abroad with a ministry or humanitarian organization…

7. What is your favorite Bible verse?
So many, but Romans 12 and Matthew 25:40 are two of my favorites.

8. If you could take a vacation from life, what are three fun/relaxing things you would do?
-read, a lot, at a independently owned coffee shop
-play with bubbles and chalk with my niece
-I would like to travel to Africa, Greece, Italy, Ireland…

9. What do you look forward to doing on weekends?
Mostly, not going to class ☺

10. What are three things you never go anywhere without?
Burt’s Bees Chap stick, Cell Phone, and usually Kristen ☺

long week.

It's been a really long week. Nothing particularly bad (well...I'll probably write about the bad later). It started out good-free jewelry and skipping class (although I can't believe that was just a few days ago, it seems like it was weeks ago). I had to do 2 observation hours on Tuesday...not bad, just long. I've been scheduling in my homework into my free times and my room has become a DISASTER (which can make even a good week bad). I have a big (very messy) art project that I've been working on...
Like I said, not bad, just long.
So today...
I skipped my 2D design class, went to Target to buy some stuff I've been needing (shampoo, deodorant, etc.), then I came home and started to clean my room, then went to the friendly little salon to get my eyebrows waxed (they're a little smaller than usual, but I think it'll be ok), now I'm going to finish cleaning.

I know, my life is fascinating.

...with Anna. =]

Q: If you had to come up with an idea for a book right now, what would it be?
A: I've been thinking a lot about really artistic people (like photographers, or writers) put into fantastical scenarios (like wonderlands or meetings with their polar opposites) and how those situations foil characteristics out of the main character. Sound vague? Someday it will make since when the novel is published...or if i die and it leaks...

Q: If someone were to create an image (paint, photograph, sculpt, etc.) of you, what would it be like (what style and media)? What would you be doing?
A: That's hard to choose...I think a painting would best suit me, because of the use of color. I'm not sure what i would be doing. Perhaps just sitting, like the Mona Lisa. Except I would like more of my surroundings to show. Hopefully it would be painted in a room full of fabrics and knick-knack...and it would be extremely detailed (Think the Arnolfini marriage) And the colors would be very rich and dramatic. :)

Q: Who do you think is the most beautiful actress?
A: This is haaarrrddd..... Maybe Anne Hathaway. She's amazing beautiful and very sophisticated.

Q: Is there a book or movie character most relate to?
A: Josephine March. Anne of Green Gables. Amelie. All of your stereotypical dreamers who have a hard time living in reality.

Q: What is something in life you wish you were good (or better) at?
A: I wish i was better at finishing what I started.
